RNS ART SHOW & SALE

Cynthia VanBuskirk and Colleen Lawrence were among the ladies helping artists register

their paintings for the 24th Annual Spring Art Show and Sale Sunday afternoon, at the

Irving Gymnasium.  They will be handling 200 works by Atlantic Canadian artists, some

which are on preview at www.rns.cc/artshow.

This show is organized by the parents to help raise money for the school to purchase

equipment to enhance the learning environment for the students.  Cynthia wanted me to

remind you to write the dates on your calendar “the show opens on Friday, May 11th, with

a reception and viewing starting at 9a.m. – 4p.m.  The admission is free, so do plan to come

and view the wonderful display of art next weekend.”  Cynthia also explained,”For the last

5 years all of our fundraising money was used to purchase a bus to transport the students

for field trips and sporting events.  Since we don’t have school buses to rely on like the

public school system, we would have to hire buses to transport the students everywhere.

The bus was just delivered to us in February of this year.  We have not yet determined

what this year’s funds use should be for.”

For future reference, the show is usually held on Mother’s Day weekend.  Last year was a

wonderful opening night with a lot of artists available for you to meet and greet and the

opportunity to socialize with members of our local art community.  Stay tuned for some
