The Art Mamma- Creating Fun, Happiness and Joy through Art

I have been engaged in the art world as long as  I can remember.

My first word, so the story goes after Mommy and Daddy was conquered was “idea” and shortly after that I made up a make believe friend named “Sarge”.

Sarge and my daily world of ideas quickly sent a message to my parents that something was up and they’d better keep their daughter busy. During my early childhood and long after Sarge disappeared I was well stocked with art stuff and any activity that kept my ideas flowing.

Art and creativity is my life. Art is how I see the world with lots of options and possibilities.

I’ve enjoyed many careers within the creative realm. I’ve brought creativity and new approaches to traditional industries that fundamentally dealt with challenges where I saw great opportunities with solutions in tow.

During life’s twists and turns my artistic passion has kept me sane and it was my salvation during painful passages.

I always say to my students “Art is cheaper than therapy”.  Nature, the world of shapes, light, line and colour are with me each day, it’s a 24/7 world of beauty. That’s why I love living in New Brunswick.

Inspiration is all around me.

I believe everyone has their own little creative Rain Man inside of them (Remember that movie with Cruise and Hoffman?).

My love, my bliss is to find the “Rain Man”  in every one of my students and the people I work with, to  share the fun and joy of art in our community.

I’m your Art Mamma, an art servant to you.

I plan to offer this column as your go –to person for art appreciation, art instruction, your Q and A for artistic and creative questions, and pretty well promote everything that is cultural.

On my dressing table I have a few quotes which I read everyday to get my art brain jump started before coffee.

One that I just love and I refer to it often  is by Stephen King.  King says: “Art supports life, not the other way around”
