They’re almost ready to turn the spotlight off at the Pension Board trial.
What will happen next?
Will we go back to the same old – same old, or will the taxpayers demand more?
Will the new council use their freshness to tackle repatriation of the pension plan from the provincial government, changing the structure of the Board, and changing the pension plan to a Defined Contribution plan on a go-forward basis?
Will they force removal of disability from the pension plan and make it’s governance a function of the city manager’s office?
Will they adopt the committee system of governance, with it’s meetings held at inconvenient times and out of the public eye, or
Will citizens demand more open deliberation?
