There are great things happening at Exhibition Park Raceway, and their official first race card of the 2012 racing season starts on Saturday with a full-slate of ten-dashes of hoof pounding excitement.
Besides the races being right on schedule this year, the track and horsemen welcome back the superstar of Maritime racing, and the pride of horse racing here at home, Gilles Barrieau returns after some bad luck events.
Barrieau, a national award winner winning the Canadian Driving Championship a long with the coveted Joe O’Brien award of horsemanship, an award that many would cherish to have their name on. It’s awarded for the best horsemen in the nation- that’s right, all of Canada.
Ten races are slated for action on Saturday including the top-class of the afternoon, carrying a purse of $ 1500 which includes Oldtime Robbi award winner M Ds Hardly Success, under the guidance of Barrieau. He’s the pride of the gang on the backstretch including Billy Smith, Wayne & Tony Watson, Steve & Russell Henderson, and the rest of the “syndicate”.
Post time on Saturday is at 1:00 P.M, free parking, free admission, and great entertainment for the entire family! Why not bring the kids out on Saturday to see these powerful animalsstrut their stuff on Saturday!
