Joe may have not been the loudest and most colourful councilor……
Wanted to share some thoughts on the passing of Joe Mott. First off, I have been in the east-side all my life, and I played ball for Joe in the East Suburban little league. Joe was a huge supporter of minor sports in Saint John and served on numerous committees.
Joe was an avid horse racing supporter. He served as the Saint John Harness Horsemen’s president, and in my opinion, the best the organization has ever had. He was open to new ideas, cared about the people, and would do whatever it took to make racing a better industry.
I spent many nights with Joe on the phone talking about racing, sports, and politics. He always wanted to serve the people, and he did a great job of it. Joe took pride in being an owner of racehorses, and especially his pride and joy, Stoney B.
Joe may have not been the loudest and most colourful councilor around the the table, but he ruled on issues with his constituents in mind and always was available to talk.
Saint John not only lost a great man, father, and freind, but a staunch supporter of minor sports, horse racing, and politics. Rest in Peace Joe, you will be sorely missed.
